What am I getting myself into?

Maison Simonne-Monet-Chartrand provides women who are victims of domestic violence and their children with safe and confidential shelter. The intervention team is present 24 hours a day to support you. We are committed to respecting your pace and your decisions.

    Support at all times

    • A counselor welcomes you upon your arrival.
    • A counselor is available at all times.
    As soon as you step through our doors, a counselor is there to welcome you and guide you through your first steps. This personalized welcome allows us to answer your questions and explain how the House operates.

    The pleasure of cooking together

    • A spacious kitchen that can accommodate more than 16 people.
    • A space for women to gather and share.
    The kitchen, recently renovated and adapted for people with reduced mobility, is perfect for cooking together. As the true heart of the shelter, it hosts numerous gatherings and activities.

    A living space for families

    • An outdoor courtyard that provides a space to play and relax.
    • A mother-child counselor on site to support moms.
    • A family room that offers a place for play and discovery for children.
    Our family room is a welcoming space, with games suitable for all ages. Outside, our courtyard features a garden and play structures where children can safely play and explore.

    A restorative sleep, in complete safety

    • Several rooms to accommodate residents.
    • A calm and welcoming place for you and your children.
    • Spaces designated for storing your personal belongings.
    At the Simonne-Monet-Chartrand House, we have 5 rooms to welcome you: Respect, Accountability, Cooperation, Integrity, and Solidarity. These rooms are shared to accommodate all residents.

    • Discussions between residents and counselors.
    • Mutual support and moments of sharing.
    • New friendships.
    Several areas in the House encourage interaction, including the outdoor courtyard, the kitchen, and the family room. Workshops are regularly offered there based on the needs of the women.
